Aminul Islam Founder and Chairman Global Community Organization (GCO), Bangladesh Aminul Islam is the Founder and Chairman of Global Community Organization (GCO), a Bangladesh-based non-profit, non-political organization established in 2008. He provides strategic leadership for initiatives that advance sustainable development, climate resilience, environmental conservation, food security, public health, education, and community empowerment. With more than a decade of experience in community development and humanitarian action, Mr. Islam has led programs that strengthen the resilience of vulnerable populations through locally driven, evidence-based approaches. His work promotes inclusive participation, strategic partnerships, and sustainable solutions aligned with national development priorities and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He has guided the implementation of initiatives focused on reforestation, ecosystem restoration, climate adaptation, nutrition, disaster risk reduction, and livelihood development. Among the organization's flagship programs is "One Tree for One Child," an initiative that encourages children and communities to contribute to environmental restoration while fostering long-term stewardship of natural resources. Under his leadership, GCO has collaborated with national and international partners to implement development projects and expand community-based responses to social and environmental challenges. He is also committed to strengthening institutional capacity through innovation, digital transformation, transparent governance, and effective monitoring and evaluation systems. Mr. Islam believes that sustainable development is best achieved through collaboration among governments, civil society, the private sector, development partners, and local communities. His leadership continues to focus on building resilient communities, protecting the environment, and creating lasting opportunities for people to thrive with dignity, equity, and sustainability.
