Quarterly Report – 07: Maternal & Child Nutrition in Char Land, Bangladesh

Project 64160 | Global Community Organization (GCO)

Reporting Update: 07 Project: Maternal & Child Nutrition in Char Land, Bangladesh Project Location: Char areas of Bagha Upazila and Daulatpur Upazila, Bangladesh

Strengthening Maternal and Child Nutrition in Vulnerable Char Communities

Global Community Organization (GCO) continues to implement Project 64160 – “Maternal & Child Nutrition in Char Land, Bangladesh” with the goal of improving the nutrition, health, and overall well-being of mothers and children living in vulnerable Char communities.

The project focuses on promoting maternal nutrition, child health, preventive healthcare practices, and a healthy and safe environment in line with GCO’s broader goals for sustainable community development and environmental well-being.

Continuing Community-Based Interventions

During the reporting period, the project successfully implemented its intervention framework for the 6th consecutive cycle, ensuring continuity of community-based support and engagement.

Key activities during this reporting period included:

Field surveys to understand community needs and monitor project progress. Quarterly coordination meetings to strengthen implementation and stakeholder collaboration. Advocacy and lobbying with relevant local government stakeholders. Counselling sessions for pregnant and lactating women. Courtyard meetings focusing on maternal nutrition, child health, and preventive healthcare. Community engagement through Community Clinic (CC) representatives and TYAGI volunteers. Reaching Mothers and Community Members

Community-level counselling and awareness activities provided an important opportunity to share practical information on maternal nutrition, child health, and preventive healthcare.

During the reporting quarter, 5 pregnant and lactating women and 29 community beneficiaries directly benefited from the project’s interventions.

The active involvement of Community Clinic representatives and TYAGI volunteers helped strengthen communication between the project team and community members while encouraging greater participation in health and nutrition-related activities.

Strengthening Local Collaboration

An important component of the project is collaboration with local stakeholders. During this reporting period, GCO continued advocacy, coordination, and engagement with relevant local government representatives.

These efforts are helping create stronger relationships among community members, volunteers, healthcare representatives, and local stakeholders, contributing to a more coordinated approach to maternal and child health.

The progress achieved during this reporting period demonstrates the value of consistent community engagement and locally led interventions.

By combining health and nutrition counselling, community meetings, field-level monitoring, volunteer engagement, and stakeholder collaboration, Project 64160 is working toward developing a replicable and sustainable model for improving maternal and child health outcomes in vulnerable Char communities.

GCO remains committed to continuing these efforts and expanding meaningful community participation so that mothers and children living in underserved areas can have greater access to knowledge, support, and healthier living conditions.

Looking Ahead

The project will continue to strengthen its community-based activities, stakeholder coordination, awareness initiatives, and monitoring mechanisms in the coming reporting periods.

Through sustained collaboration with communities, volunteers, Community Clinic representatives, local government stakeholders, and development partners, GCO aims to contribute to long-term improvements in maternal and child nutrition and health in Bangladesh’s Char areas.

Together for Healthier Communities

Global Community Organization believes that healthier mothers and children are fundamental to building stronger and more resilient communities.

Project 64160 continues its journey toward better maternal nutrition, healthier children, stronger communities, and a more sustainable future.
