Inception Meeting on Five Humanitarian Projects Held by Global Community Organization in Bagha

Bagha (Rajshahi), 24 May 2025: An awareness meeting on five ongoing humanitarian projects initiated by the Global Community Organization (GCO) was held in Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi district. The event took place on Saturday morning (24 May 2025) at the conference room of the Upazila Model Mosque, bringing together members of the local administration, officials from various government departments, representatives from development organizations, and members of civil society. The meeting was presided over by GCO’s Executive Director, Mr. Aminul Islam. The Chief Guest was Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land), Ms. Sabiha Sultana Dolly. Special Guests included: Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bagha Police Station, A.F.M. Asaduzzaman Asad, Executive Director of Horirampur Distressed Women Multipurpose Society, Mr. Mir Shawkat Ali, Executive Director of Green the Environment, Mr. Md. Azad Mia, Executive Director of Association for Rural People's Advancement, Mr. Wahiduzzaman, Executive Director of Protyasha, Mr. Mostafa Abdul Baten Rushdi Also present were:Upazila Secondary Education Officer, A.F.M. Hasan, Secondary Academic Supervisor, Mahamudur Rahman, Women Affairs Officer, Nasrin Sultana, Social Services Officer, Khandaker Masud Rana, Youth Development Officer, Rafiqul Islam, Manager of Palli Sanchay Bank, Monirul Islam, Public Health Engineer, Abdul Momin, Headteachers of local schools and colleges, community volunteers, and journalists, The projects were presented in detail by GCO Project Officer Jubayer Kabir, and the event was moderated by the organization’s General Secretary, Masud Rana. It is worth noting that all five projects are funded by the international development agency, GLOBAL GIVING FOUNDATION INC., USA. The five projects discussed were: Maternal & Child Nutrition in Char Land, Bangladesh (Project 64160): Aimed at ensuring improved nutrition for mothers and children living in remote char (riverine island) areas. Safe Life From the Thunderstorms with Plant (Project 64560): An initiative to plant trees to protect communities from the risk of deadly lightning strikes. Maternal and Child Health in Bangladesh Slums (Project 64561): Activities focused on improving maternal and child healthcare services in urban slum areas. Addressing Hunger Among Bangladesh’s Elderly (Project 64460): Providing food assistance to combat hunger and malnutrition among the elderly population. Sponsor a Tree for a Child’s Future in Bangladesh (Project 64070): Promoting environmental awareness by sponsoring a tree for every child to ensure a greener and healthier future. The meeting highlighted the objectives, activities, and future plans of these projects, generating enthusiasm and interest among local stakeholders and administrative representatives.

Global Community Organization expressed its hope that these initiatives will play a significant role in achieving sustainable development for the underprivileged and vulnerable communities in the region.
