One Tree for One Child
Plant a Tree, Nurture a Child, Grow Futures
Our Impact
About the Program
The One Tree for One Child initiative is a vital program under the Global Community Organization (GCO), focusing on environmental sustainability and social inclusion. It brings together afforestation efforts with community development by providing trees to families with newborn children. This initiative aims to create a lasting impact on the environment while also addressing the needs of vulnerable populations — linking a family's future to a growing tree and a greener Bangladesh.
How It Works
A Child Is Registered
When a child is born into a participating family, GCO's field staff register the child and their family details under the program.
A Tree Is Assigned
A tree species and a planting location are assigned to the family, matched to the local Upazila unit responsible for that area.
The Tree Is Planted
Field staff plant the tree and record it with GPS location and photo evidence, so every planting is verified and traceable.
Growth Is Tracked
As the child grows, so does their tree — staff periodically revisit the site to confirm the tree's survival and growth.
