Quarterly Report-07: Addressing Hunger Among Bangladesh's Elderly (64460)

9/9/2026

Strengthening Food Security, Health, and Social Protection for Elderly People in Bagha Upazila Project 64460 | Global Community Organization

Global Community Organization’s Project 64460, launched on January 1, 2025, continues its commitment to improving the food security, health, and social protection of elderly people in Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi. The project is designed to help senior citizens lead dignified, healthy, and sustainable lives while contributing to a stronger and more inclusive local social protection system.

Continuing the Intervention with Strong Stakeholder Engagement During the reporting quarter, the project successfully continued its planned activities and was implemented for the 6th consecutive time under the ongoing intervention framework. This continued implementation reflects the organization’s commitment to maintaining consistent support for elderly beneficiaries and strengthening the foundations necessary for long-term impact.

As part of the project’s coordination and stakeholder engagement efforts, a detailed introductory meeting was conducted with the local administration. The meeting focused on ensuring transparency, strengthening coordination, and fostering cooperation among relevant stakeholders. Such engagement is essential for creating a supportive environment in which project activities can be implemented effectively and sustainably.

Developing a Data-Driven Approach An important component of the project is the development of a database application to monitor the socio-economic and health conditions of elderly beneficiaries. Work is currently underway to establish this digital monitoring system.

The application is expected to support more systematic collection and management of beneficiary information, enabling the project team to better understand changing needs and track progress over time. This data-driven approach will contribute to more effective planning, monitoring, and delivery of services to vulnerable senior citizens.

Supporting Elderly Beneficiaries Through the project’s ongoing initiatives, 42 beneficiaries received support, including 11 senior citizens who directly benefited from the program. These interventions are intended to address the needs of elderly people while promoting their dignity, well-being, and social inclusion.

Beyond immediate assistance, the project is also focused on building the capacity and systems required to ensure that its impact can be sustained over the long term.

Preparing for the Next Phase Preparations are underway for the project’s upcoming full implementation phase. As part of these preparations, training activities are being planned for field-level TYAGI volunteers and staff members. Strengthening the knowledge and skills of field personnel will be critical to ensuring effective implementation, beneficiary engagement, and monitoring at the community level.

Building a Sustainable Future for Senior Citizens Project 64460 goes beyond providing immediate support. By combining beneficiary assistance, stakeholder coordination, digital monitoring, and capacity development, the project is laying the groundwork for a more sustainable approach to elderly care and social protection in Bagha Upazila.

Global Community Organization remains committed to working with local stakeholders and communities to create lasting positive change. Through continued collaboration and targeted interventions, Project 64460 aims to contribute to a future where elderly people can live with greater security, dignity, health, and social inclusion.
